The easiest way to be sure:
Check your fuel cap or owner’s manual
Most Toyota models are designed to run on Unleaded 91 (regular petrol). It’s widely available and suitable for everyday driving. Many vehicles in the Toyota range, including earlier-generation petrol and hybrid models, are fully compatible with Unleaded 91.
Tip: If your vehicle specifies Unleaded 91, there is no benefit in using higher octane fuel.
Some newer Toyota models require Unleaded 95 RON or higher.
Note: Using a lower octane fuel than required can affect performance and may cause engine issues over time. Always check your fuel cap or owner’s manual to confirm the correct fuel for your vehicle.
Toyota Hybrid vehicles combine petrol engines with electric motors to improve efficiency.
Fuel requirements vary depending on the model. While many earlier hybrids use Unleaded 91, newer hybrid systems — including the 2026 RAV4 Hybrid — require Unleaded 95 RON or higher
Always check your specific model to be sure.
Toyota models such as the HiLux, LandCruiser 70 Series, LandCruiser 200/300 Series, Prado, and HiAce are powered by diesel engines. Always use diesel fuel only at the pump. Filling up with petrol by mistake can cause serious engine damage, so take care when selecting the nozzle.
Many Toyota vehicles are compatible with E10 (a blend of 90% petrol and 10% ethanol). It’s safe to use in most modern Toyotas, but there are exceptions. If you’re unsure, check the fuel cap, your owner’s manual, or speak with our service team before choosing E10 regularly.
While Toyota no longer produces factory LPG vehicles for the Australian market, you may still see some older models on the road. If you own one, follow the specific guidance in your owner’s manual and keep in mind that servicing requirements may differ.
