Australia's best-selling SUV just got a serious upgrade.

The all-new Toyota RAV4 has arrived in its sixth generation, and if you have been waiting to see what all the fuss is about, this is your guide. At New Town Toyota in East Victoria Park, we have had a close look at what is new, what is different, and why it matters for Perth drivers. Here are the specs worth knowing about.

Boot Space That Actually Earns Its Keep

The all-new RAV4 has been redesigned to make the most of every cubic litre. Hybrid Electric variants offer up to 749 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place. Plug-in Hybrid variants offer up to 672 litres, with the traction battery positioned beneath the floor to maintain usable cabin space while improving the vehicle's handling balance.

Fold the rear seats down and that space increases further, making the RAV4 a genuine workhorse for families and weekend adventurers alike. Think surfboards, camping gear, sports equipment, flat-pack furniture, and everything else Perth life throws at a car.

On Cruiser and GR Sport grades, a power back door with kick sensor means you can open the boot hands-free. Wave your foot near the bumper and the door opens automatically, which is exactly what you want when your hands are full at the shops or after a long day at the beach.

    3D Panoramic Parking Visibility

Parallel parking, tight car parks, awkward driveways. The new all-around Panoramic View Monitor[S1] on XSE, Cruiser and GR Sport grades takes the stress out of all of them. Unlike the flat overhead view found in most vehicles, the all-new RAV4 generates a three-dimensional perspective of the area surrounding the vehicle.

The result is a clearer, more intuitive picture of where your vehicle sits in relation to kerbs, pillars, and other cars. It makes maneuvering in confined Perth car parks noticeably more confident, especially in tight shopping centre bays and narrow suburban streets. This is the kind of feature that sounds simple until you use it for the first time and wonder how you managed without it.

The Kick Sensor Boot: Small Detail, Real Difference

On Cruiser and GR Sport grades, the power back door comes with a kick sensor. The idea is straightforward: when your hands are full, you should not have to put anything down to open your boot. A wave of your foot near the rear bumper triggers the door to open automatically.

It is a small feature on paper. In practice, it is one of those things that quickly becomes something you rely on. Anyone who has tried to juggle a toddler, a shopping bag, and a set of keys in a car park will appreciate it immediately.

Head Up Display on Cruiser and GR Sport

The all-new RAV4 Cruiser and GR Sport introduce a new Head Up Display that projects key information directly onto the lower windscreen as a high-contrast, translucent graphic. Speed, navigation prompts, and safety alerts appear in the driver's natural line of sight, reducing the need to look away from the road.

Combined with the 12.3-inch digital Multi-information Display behind the steering wheel and the 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch touchscreen, the new RAV4 offers one of the most connected driving environments in its segment. A built-in voice assistant handles additional functions so you can keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road ahead.

    Two Powertrains to Choose From

The all-new RAV4 is available in Hybrid Electric (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric (PHEV) variants across a range of grades. HEV grades include GX, GXL, Edge, XSE and Cruiser, available in both 2WD and AWD. PHEV grades are XSE and GR Sport, both AWD.

For drivers who want the efficiency of hybrid technology without the need for charging infrastructure, the HEV is the straightforward choice. For those who want to maximise electric driving on their daily commute while retaining full flexibility for longer trips, the PHEV offers that flexibility with the added reassurance of a petrol engine for any journey.

Both powertrains are covered by Toyota's 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty[W8] and supported by capped price servicing [TS4] at New Town Toyota. All-new RAV4 with PHEV powertrain will be available late 2026.
