Toyota Reopens GR Yaris Orders, Updates Allocation Policy

Toyota Australia’s dealers have resumed taking orders for the 200kW GR Yaris and will adopt a new approach for delivering all GR performance cars to enthusiasts.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing & Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the moves were made possible by available supply of GR Yaris, GR Corolla, GR86 and GR Supra.

Mr Hanley said Toyota’s new allocation policy for the four GR models will prioritise deliveries based on the date a customer places an order, effective July production.

“We always strive for a customer-first approach, so I’m pleased to announce we’re moving to a ‘first in, first out’ method for all GR performance cars,” Mr Hanley said.

“It’s the fairest way given the normalisation of supply of these in-demand sports cars,” he said.

Mr Hanley said the reopening of orders for GR Yaris – the first all-Toyota sports car in more than 20 years – would be welcomed by enthusiasts.

“GR Yaris has been instrumental in the local success of the GR brand, which has reignited Toyota’s sports-car heritage in Australia and reminded us how much fun you can have driving a Toyota,” he said.

“Hot demand for the GR Yaris has resulted in 2,591 sales since its arrival in late 2020, including 1,001 of the track-focused GR Yaris Rallye.”

The spearhead for the GR brand in Australia was the introduction in 2019 of the GR Supra – a no-compromise driver’s car that has attracted 1,171 sales.

The GR86, launched in September 2022, has achieved 1,609 sales – with auto, at 51.5 per cent, narrowly shading manual as the transmission of choice.

The fire-breathing GR Corolla, which debuted early last year, builds on Corolla’s motorsport DNA with 788 deliveries of the GTS grade and a further 25 of the hard-core two-seat Morizo Edition.

The GR brand now extends to GR Sport models that respond to a diverse range of needs:

  • A more powerful hybrid system and sports styling for the C-HR…
  • Dynamic and visual upgrades for the Yaris Cross…
  • The most off-road capable LandCruiser yet…
  • And the most powerful diesel HiLux ever.
