Heartfelt stories from New Town Toyota staff about their personal reasons for joining the Walk for Women's Cancers—honoring loved ones, raising awareness, and supporting a future free of women’s cancers. Every step makes a difference!
How many years have you been participating in the Walk for Women’s Cancers?
This will be my 4th year.
What do you look forward to most about this year’s walk?
The finish line 😊
What would you say to someone considering joining the Walk for the first time?
100% do it, whether you’re up for the full 35km on the day or 35km over 7 days in the week leading up it’s such an amazing community event to get involved in. Highly recommend rallying some friends and family members to join the team and make a day of it. Lots of snacks and rest stops along the way!
Why do you think events like this are important for raising awareness and funding research?
The Harry Perkins Institute is Perth’s own leading medical research facility. That means that the funds we raise through events like the walk help discover new & more effective treatment to help Western Australians have better chances at surviving diseases such as cancer. Having a research facility like the Perkins means in Perth we can attract some of the best cancer researchers & specialists in the world. Government funding for research is incredibly competitive and its up to us all to raise funds and awareness to help improve treatments and finally beat cancer for once and for all.
