Walk for Women’s Cancer takes a leap with New Town Toyota

One of Western Australia’s most successful charity walks raising funds for women’s cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research has signed New Town Toyota as its title sponsor.

Chief Development Officer at the Harry Perkins Institute, Ms Paige Gibbs, said the Walk for Women’s Cancer and New Town Toyota has entered a three-year sponsorship deal.

Dealer Principal of New Town Toyota & Kalamunda Toyota Mr Joe Zito is already a long-term supporter of the Harry Perkins Institute through his lengthy association with the MACA Cancer 200 – Ride for Research and we are delighted he has extended his support for cancer research by choosing to support the Walk for Women’s Cancer.

New Town Toyota is a family run business and the team at New Town Toyota are a great fit for an event dedicated to the women in our lives and the families who love them.

“His motivation for wanting to sponsor this event comes from his passion to give back to a community that has seen him grow New Town Toyota to one of the largest and most successful car dealerships in Australia”, she said.

Mr Zito said he had no hesitation in supporting an event where funds raised go to women’s cancer research in Western Australia.

“The unfortunate truth is that cancer has affected so many of our lives in one way or another and it is a cause very close to my heart.

“Tragically my wife and the mother of our two daughters, Sandra Zito lost her life to breast cancer in 1998 when the girls were only seven and five years old.

“Supporting cancer research is critical to making a difference to the outcomes for cancer patients. Only research can find new treatments.” he said.

Today, his daughter Bianca works alongside her father and has been instrumental in developing this partnership. “To sponsor an event that can make a life changing difference to our community is a very exciting partnership to be involved in”.
